MEET SUSIE – In a collaborative, grounding, and empathetic manner, she facilitates soulful growth for clients navigating overwhelm and change. Her care is strong yet gentle, focussed yet fluid, stemming from an experiential and relational framework. She is client-centred and trauma-informed in her approach to working with individuals, couples, and families. Susie is in good-standing as a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association with Canadian Certified Counsellor designation (CCPA-C.C.C.).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & THERAPY FOCUS – Drawing from a career in kinesiology, Susie returned to school for a second graduate degree to pursue her Master of Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle, including an eight-month counselling internship at the Calgary Counselling Centre which provided additional specialized training in

• treating depression actively and experientially,

• non-suicidal self-injury and anxiety management,

• crisis de-escalation, and

• trauma-informed counselling for children and families experiencing intimate partner violence.

There, diversity, equity, and inclusion were practiced cornerstones of care that Susie carries with her to Mountain Therapy.

Inspired by the space derived from existential-phenomenology, Susie connects her past cognitive behavioural work with narrative and internal family systems modalities, often drawing on acceptance and commitment therapy. She gravitates to emotion-focused care with somatic and polyvagal theory influences. Susie is Gottman Method Couples Therapy – Level 1 certified and Treating Affairs and Trauma certified.
